Wearing a mask was easier when I was supposed to wear one. It meant I was supporting the medical recommendations that we need to social distance, mask up, and get vaccinated. Even if I did not live up to my mask, I was comfortable with what it stood for. But now Joe Biden let us take our masks off. Out of habit, I find myself grabbing a mask when I go out for a jog. Now I cannot figure out who I am. Without a mask I could be vaccinated or I could be a Covid-19 denier. I know I am the former but who am I to others? Do I need to wear a Fauci T-shirt or a Biden hat? And if I do wear a mask, who am I? Somebody really sick with lung problems out jogging? Someone who believes vaccinations are not good enough? Just a doofus? Life has gotten really complicated since we divided ourselves so rigidly. Or maybe we always did that but I have just gotten more confused as I have grown elderly.
That’s true. I mean wearing a mask is a safer choice. Even after the vaccination, there’s a risk that people can test positive if in contact with too many people, like Bill Maher for example.

Geoff, so much judgement flying about. May we all find our ease soon. x

I, for one, am a mask wearer, not because I’m a denier but because I have been slack about getting shot after seeing how my wife reacted to it. I will miss the masks, though. This morning my boss told me to do something and I was aggravated but I could stick out my tongue with impunity. I will have to go back to keeping my thoughts to myself.

Autocorrect is out of control. Doofus was supposed to be “Dude.”

I was reading an article the other day Geoff where the writer suggested a trend had developed for mask wearers to continue wearing their masks as it allowed them to develop a new anon identity which allowed for no societal expectations.

I am old enough that a mask actually improves my looks but I do not like that I am harder to understand when I speak with a mask on.

Same here, my voice becomes a garbled mess. I hate the way masks make me hyper sensitive on my face.

And in a new twist, some anti-maskers are now wearing masks because they believe the vaccine has been designed to be shed like the virus to immunize other people.

Oh, you are spot on with this! I overthink everything, and this mask-wearing issue has me in a tizzy now that all restrictions have been lifted in Ohio. I thought about have a t-shirt made with “I am not a maskhole. I believe in science. I am fully vaccinated” printed on it.
