Banking

Earlier this month, I tried to cash a check I made out to myself for $500 but I had written out “Two hundred fifty four and no/100.” It took awhile for me to find an opening where I could slide the check and identification through to the heavily protected teller. She seemed wary when she asked if I was trying to cash a check for $500 or $254. I am no dummy, so I chose the higher amount. I made a cool $246 just walking in the bank that day. She told me to initial the change. I made the change but forgot to initial it. The Security Guard strolled by and said “Hi.” She passed the check back through the little opening. I initialed my change. I was a little nervous with my mask on because I decided to pass a note that said: “six 50’s, nine 20’s, twenty 1’s.” I no longer trusted my own instructions, so I made a joke about needing the note because I was not so good with math and numbers. No one laughed, not the teller, her supervisor, the guard, or the customers waiting in line. I am sure they all heard me because I was over shouting through my mask. The bankers did not try to bully me into doing my banking at the outside machine like they usually do. I think they have finally realized I am not capable of doing that.
